Updated: Oct 23, 2021

As summer temperatures wind down, things are heating up in the kitchen of Eve’s Garden Products! We are excited to announce that we will soon offer Tallow Balm! Our debut scent is called Summer, and it is delicious combination of floral notes, coconut and jasmine, that will transport you back to those warm sunny days, and help combat those dreary winter blues all while keeping your skin smooth and supple.

We are sure you are wondering: what is tallow balm?

Tallow, specifically beef tallow, is rendered fat from a cow; this is from any beef tissue but is generally fat that surrounds the animal’s organs. Tallow was the go-to ingredient for skincare in times past but has since fallen out of practice as the outpouring of synthetically infused man-made creams and lotions increased.

Why on earth would someone use Tallow??

Traditionally, tallow was once a household staple for multiple purposes. Tallow was used for cooking, soap and candle making, and served as a base for salves and balms; like modern lotion, it was everywhere. When crafting our products, ingredient simplicity remains supreme and our results should be just as simple.

Tallow is a natural moisturizer that is packed with tons of nutrients, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids. The fats of tallow are similar to our own fats, and it is packed with vitamin A, D, K and, B-12. Also, linoleic and oleic acid makes this nutrient-rich product easily absorb into skin. Furthermore, tallow is packed with nutrients.

To get the purest and cleanest tallow, we at Eve’s Garden Products purchase beef only from grass-fed and finished cow farms. Our orders are carefully detailed to receive portions of the cow that are specific to be transformed into high-quality balms. The lengthy and tedious process of rendering pure tallow starts by hand, which allows us to maintain the integrity of the natural mineral and triglyceride composition intact and create the purest form of tallow.

At the end of the process, we are left with creamy balms with heavenly scents, such as, jasmine, eucalyptus, or a personal favorite, lavender. The balms are absorbed into the skin and deliver intense moisture instantly. Once absorbed, you aren’t left with that greasy residue feeling that you might get from heavier lotions and creams.

Even more unique, tallow mirrors our natural sebum, it is generally able to deliver powerful moisturizer to all skin types without causing irritation. The oleic acid found in tallow penetrates deep into the skin and replenishes lost moisture and stops trans epidermal water loss, this is perfect for dry or aging skin to regain its youthful appearance!

Still not convinced that cow fat is a game-changer for your skin? Tallow has also been found to have Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA), which has all kinds of skin benefits.

According to the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, it has been reported that “conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) delivers a variety of antiaging benefits to skin” and that controlled test “results showed that the CLA cream provided a significant reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles…[and] these findings confirm the efficacy of CLA in providing antiaging benefits, such as fine lines and wrinkles and overall photodamage, without irritation” (1).

Overall, tallow balm provides endless benefits and is derived from a natural source that is great for the whole family. While the beauty industry has made endless chemical-based products for skin, it is more apparent than ever that getting back to basics is the best option for beauty AND health.
